Green ammonia, a carbon-free chemical, has gained significant attention as a hydrogen carrier and carbon-neutral fuel, enabling the trading of green hydrogen and contributing to the establishment of a carbon-neutral society. Its higher volumetric hydrogen content and energy density compared to liquid hydrogen make it a compelling option. Furthermore, the existing infrastructure for ammonia storage and transportation provides a valuable advantage for its integration into current energy systems. To successfully implement green ammonia, the development of low-cost production technologies is crucial. This presentation highlights the current progress and future prospects of the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) in the development of green ammonia synthesis at low pressures and low temperatures.
